Clear Bag Policy

IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING CLEAR BAG POLICY

Starting with the 2026-27 school year, the Glendale Union High School District (GUHSD) will implement a clear bag policy for all after-school sports and extracurricular events held at any district school. This decision aligns with the practices of many peer school districts and is designed to enhance safety and streamline the entry process for all guests attending our high school events. Safety is a shared responsibility, and your cooperation is appreciated.

APPROVED BAGS AND ITEMS

The following bags and items are approved for entry to GUHSD after-school events:

Small clutches or purses not exceeding 4.5” x 6.5”

Clear Plastic Bags

1-gallon, resealable, clear plastic bags

Other Items

Clear, sealed water bottles

 

Seat cushions (with or without a seat back), not exceeding 18” x 18”

Note: Attendees with non-approved bags will be required to return them to their parked vehicle before entering the gate. District schools will not be responsible for storing personal belongings.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

For the safety of all attendees, the following items are not approved for entry to after-school events:

  • Solid-colored backpacks, large purses, oversized solid totes, and solid-colored drawstring bags.
  • Fanny packs/solid cross-body bags, camera bags, binoculars cases, and mesh bags.
  • Diaper bags (See FAQs for medical items).
  • Coolers and ice chests.
  • Glass or metal containers.
  • Outside food and beverages, alcohol, and tobacco products (including e-cigarettes).
  • Weapons of any kind, including those carried with a permit.
  • Sticks, poles, or other objects that may be used as a weapon.
  • Bikes, skateboards, scooters, hoverboards, longboards, one wheels, etc.
  • Fireworks, drones, or laser pointers.
  • Animals, except service animals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

  • No. The clear bag policy applies only to after-school events and activities that are open to the public (e.g., games, public performing arts concerts, plays). School-specific events not open to the public (e.g., Future Freshman Night) are exempt.

  • Yes, guests may bring additional clothing items, provided they can be unfolded and properly inspected upon entry.

  • Anyone carrying a non-approved bag will be asked to return it to their vehicle before being allowed to enter the venue.

  • Any medically necessary items that cannot fit inside an approved clear bag will be subject to a proper inspection before you enter the venue.

  • Small clutch purses are permitted, even if solid-colored, as long as they do not exceed 4.5” x 6.5”.

  • Yes. Small personal items, such as cell phones, keys, wallets, money, personal feminine products, or makeup products, may be carried in your pocket if you choose not to bring a clear bag.
