School Safety

GUHSD is dedicated to providing a secure learning and working environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The district routinely assesses security needs, including emergency planning and the development and implementation of safety protocols.

Our plans are adaptable to meet the evolving needs of our students, campuses, and the district. They are routinely reviewed, optimized, and practiced to ensure that in the event of an incident, our staff, students, parents, and authorities are well-versed in the procedures, familiar with the facilities, and understand their roles in maintaining campus safety.

Each school has a School Resource Officer and a safety committee that reviews and updates policies and procedures to enhance security. Regular fire, lockdown, and evacuation drills are conducted. Additionally, we hold SRO quarterly meetings to stay updated on the latest safety protocols and maintain comprehensive emergency operations plans. All administrators undergo rigorous training in incident command to be fully prepared for any situation. Regular site assessments and a detailed drill checklist ensure our facilities are secure and our procedures are effective. With enhanced security measures like camera systems and collaboration with local police departments, we are continually enhancing our emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
