Glendale Union High School District

The Glendale Union High School District provides support services for students with disabilities at all nine high schools. Services provided are established through the student's Individual Educational Program or IEP and must be in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or IDEA. Services range from academic assistance for one hour per day to full day self-contained settings. Related services are also provided.

Information Meeting for Parents of Students Enrolled in Home School Setting

The Glendale Union High School District provides proportionate share special education services for students with disabilities who are home schooled through the development of individual service plans. For more information regarding proportionate share special education services, please contact the Special Education Department at (623) 435-6067. The district will be hosting an informational meeting for parents of students enrolled in home school settings to discuss procedures and types of services. The meeting will be on Wednesday, September 21 at 4:30 p.m. at the district office located at 7650 N 43rd Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301 for families residing within our district boundaries. We look forward to meeting you on Wednesday, September 21.

The Glendale Union High School District is looking for students who may need special education services such as: specialized instruction, therapy services, or specialized equipment. If you are aware of a student who has any special needs in the areas of speech, emotional, motor, visual, hearing, cognition, or substantial learning deficits, please contact the student’s school or our office.

Specialty Programs

Next S.T.E.P

The Next S.T.E.P. program is a secondary special education program designed for students with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22, and who are not yet ready for graduation. The Next S.T.E.P. program offers functional and vocational curriculum with instructional focus on the acquisition of skills necessary for independence within the community.

Northern Academy

The Northern Academy strives to empower students for the choices and challenges of the 21st century, providing the most appropriate educational experience for students with emotional and learning disabilities while maintaining dignity, self-esteem and high academic standards. The goal of the Northern Academy is to provide a well-structured environment for students with a need for intensive services beyond those that can be provided at the student’s home school.
