GREENWAY HIGH SCHOOL EARNS A+ SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE DISTINCTION

Greenway High School Honored with A+ School of Excellence Designation
Phoenix, Ariz., February 20, 2025 – Greenway High School is proud to announce that it has been named one of 53 Arizona public schools to receive the prestigious A+ School of Excellence Award®, the highest state-level recognition available to public schools.
This distinguished honor, established 42 years ago as a pathway to the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Award, celebrates the school’s exceptional performance in academics and community engagement. Greenway High School’s achievement is a direct result of the unwavering dedication of its outstanding teachers and staff, whose daily commitment ensures that every student and Greenway family receives the support needed for success.
“Our teachers and staff go above and beyond to create an environment where students can thrive both academically and personally,” said Ed Barnes, Principal of Greenway High School. “This award is a testament to our collective effort to build a supportive, innovative, and collaborative community. We are honored to join the ranks of schools that exemplify excellence.”
Greenway High School’s recognition also marks the third honor for the district in the past five years, joining Washington and Cortez High Schools in this elite group. This milestone underscores the district’s sustained commitment to fostering educational environments where strong leadership, innovative instruction, and robust family and community engagement converge to create exceptional learning experiences.
Each year, hundreds of schools submit their applications for the A+ designation. Schools are evaluated on a comprehensive set of criteria including strong leadership, a rigorous standards-aligned curriculum, engaging and innovative teaching practices, and active parent and community involvement. For Greenway High School, this award reflects not only academic excellence but also the critical role that its dedicated educators and staff play in making the school a safe, inspiring, and supportive space for learning.
