On November 6, Washington High School celebrated the extraordinary individuals and groups who exemplify excellence, dedication, and a commitment to making their school community an exceptional place. The Achievement Above All awards, the highest honors given by the GUHSD Governing Board, recognize outstanding contributions in teaching, student excellence, student organizations, support staff, and volunteerism. Below, we proudly introduce this year’s honorees, whose remarkable achievements reflect the heart of Washington High School.

A graduate of Moon Valley High School, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Human Development from ASU and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education. Jacquie oversees Washington’s preschool, teaches early childhood education classes, and serves as the junior class sponsor, spearheading major events like prom.
Her innovative teaching methods, including engaging projects that allow students experiential, hands-on learning, and student-preschooler mentorships, inspire her students and attract new participants to the program. Jacquie’s leadership has earned the preschool a 5-star rating on the Quality First Rating Scale and garnered her the prestigious FCCLA Spirit of Advising Award.

Teachers praise his humility, intelligence, and kindness. AP U.S. History teacher Mr. Roberts remarked, “John embodies everything a successful student should be—dedicated, driven, compassionate, and gracious.”
